Costa Rica 7-Day Weather Forecast: August 25 to 31, 2025

This week we’re in for some contrasting weather here in Costa Rica. We’ve started the week with calmer, dry air but a game-changer arrives midweek. That’s when Tropical Wave #26 pushes across the Caribbean Basin and into Costa Rican territory around Wednesday. This system will serve as a catalyst that transforms our relatively quiet weather into something a bit more dynamic.

By week’s end, the atmosphere will become charged with moisture and instability, setting up widespread thunderstorm development across the Pacific regions, Northern Zone, Central Valley, and Caribbean highlands.

Weekly Weather Evolution:

Early week calm: Monday and Tuesday feature limited moisture with only heat-driven, localized showers developing.

Midweek pivot: Wednesday brings Tropical Wave #26, triggering the shift from quiet to active weather patterns.

Late week intensity: Thursday through Sunday deliver sustained periods of thunderstorm activity as atmospheric energy builds.

Daily Weather Patterns

Morning Hours

Clear to partly cloudy skies dominate most areas, creating ideal conditions for rapid heating. Caribbean coastal zones may develop some shower activity that gradually pushes toward inland northern areas as the week advances.

Peak Afternoon Heat

The North Pacific maintains its typically drier character but shows increasing storm potential as we move toward week’s end. Central and South Pacific areas, along with the Northern Zone, develop extensive cloud cover with frequent thunderstorm formation.

The Central Valley stays relatively stable early on, but Wednesday marks a turning point when Tropical Wave #26 triggers more regular afternoon storm development. Caribbean regions focus their rainfall primarily in elevated terrain.

Evening Hours

Central Valley and North Pacific areas keep partly cloudy conditions early in the week, though storm chances increase later. Central and South Pacific coastal areas experience the most consistent evening thunderstorm activity during the opening half of each night.

Northern Zone areas develop thick cloud cover with active thunderstorms, while Caribbean regions maintain lighter mountain shower activity.

Weekly temperatures reflect the atmospheric transition, starting warmer under clearer skies before moderating as cloud cover and storm activity increase.
