Costa Rica 7-Day Weather Forecast: June 5-11, 2025

This Week’s Rainy Season Continues

Costa Rica’s atmosphere remains primed for rainfall throughout the next seven days, thanks to a perfect storm of conditions: high humidity levels, an active Intertropical Convergence Zone, and instability in the upper atmosphere over our region. This combination keeps the classic rainy season pattern firmly in place.

Here’s what’s different this week: early morning showers are making their presence known along both Caribbean and Pacific coasts. These aren’t your typical afternoon thunderstorms – they’re caused by cloud formations that develop over nearby ocean areas and then drift inland during the early hours. The rest of the country will start with partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures through morning and midday.

Afternoons will deliver the familiar rainy season experience we’ve come to expect: downpours and thunderstorms primarily targeting the Central Valley, Northern Zone, Pacific regions, and mountainous areas of the Caribbean. What’s notable is that many of these showers will persist into the early evening hours, and some may last even longer than usual.

Weather Factors to Watch

A mass of Saharan dust will be passing through the central Caribbean Sea over the weekend, but don’t expect it to significantly affect Costa Rica’s weather patterns. Maybe allergies though!

More importantly, Tropical Wave #5 is making its way across the Atlantic and is estimated to reach Costa Rica by the middle of next week.

However, its movement has been quite irregular, so this timeline could change – we’ll keep you updated as it develops.

Daily Weather Breakdown

Mornings

Expect mostly partly cloudy skies with warm temperatures across the interior. Coastal areas will experience variable cloudiness with possible showers – a departure from the typically clearer morning conditions we usually see.

Afternoons

The country will range from partly to mostly cloudy with variable rainfall affecting much of Costa Rica. This is prime time for the heaviest downpours and thunderstorm activity.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies will blanket the entire country. Mountain areas of the Central Valley and Pacific coastal regions should prepare for scattered showers and downpours during the early evening hours. The Caribbean may see occasional showers as well.
